Timiskaming Hopspice Palliative Care was established in 1996 as a charitable, non-profit organization serving the Timiskaming region.

We believe care should honour the whole person, including their values, culture, beliefs, relationships, and choices. Our approach is grounded in respect, consent, collaboration, and compassion.

We are committed to creating a safe and supportive space for individuals and families, particularly in a close-knit community where privacy, trust, and dignity matter deeply.

Our program is supported through community donations and funding from the Ministry of Health.

HOW WE WORK

We work alongside individuals, families, healthcare providers, volunteers, and community partners to support care that reflects the needs and wishes of each person.

Our role is to complement medical care by offering presence, guidance, and connection during times of illness, caregiving, and loss.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We respectfully acknowledge that the Timiskaming Hospice Palliative Care Program operates within the Robinson–Huron Treaty, Treaty 9, and on unceded Indigenous lands. This land is the traditional home of the Beaverhouse, Matachewan, Temagami, and Timiskaming First Nations, and continues to hold the enduring presence of the Algonquin, Anishinaabe, Ojibwe, Cree, and Métis Peoples.

We honour the original peoples as the first caretakers of these lands and waters, whose stewardship continues from time immemorial to the present day. With gratitude, respect, and a commitment to truth, reconciliation, and meaningful action, we say miigwetch.
